You know you are getting old when... (16 days to Bayta)

Last night my parents offered to take the boys to the circus. No sooner had the door closed and my wife gave me that knowing look. "So what do you wanna do?" she said with mischiveous grin on her face. "I think you know what I am in the mood for..." I said realizing that we have become so close we can read each others minds.

Not so many years ago (or even a trimester or so...) this post would have had to be censored... but for us a night to ourselves meant only one thing! Cleaning. Our basement looks habitable now. I used to charge folks with a crime called "Felony Dirty House" (Child endangerment) and our basement was not technically a felony... but it WAS in the running for a misdemeanor.

Amanda and I actually make a pretty good team. It felt good to have a project with a result that was so noticeable. I have taken to making lists of things to do... so many of them are long and complex and when I am done not even noticed by most people. It was nice to check one off and not have to worry about it... until the boys go back down there today.

Last Thursday I had the boys (my day off), and I just couldnt get excited about organizing the garage or setting up a VPN tunnel to the South Campbell store so Amanda can do payroll from the hospital in St. Louis. Heck even writing a will for my mother in law or sister did not seem like fun... so instead I skipped down to item 27 which was: put up halloween decorations.

We have lived in our house for less than a year. We didn't decorate a lot for Christmas... because we had just moved in... but for Halloween the boys and I had a blast putting out scary items from two heavy boxes in the basement. I hope to one day explain to the neighbors why we put them up so early... and I hope we are back home to decorate before Christmas other wise we are going to be "that" family...

My father is having a stress test done today. It makes me very nervous. The last test he had done... he almost instantly had to have surgery after. My father is one of the toughest people I know... I hope they can figure out why he is tired all the time. The boys and Bayta need to have their grandpa around for many more years. Please include him in your prayers.

  1. I love accomplishing projects like that. It's safe to say I'm a little OCD so I know I will never find myself on an episode of Hoarders!

I LOVE Halloween! You will have to check out my page so you can see just how much!

I will be praying for your Dad. I had no idea that he tires so easily. I would never of guessed that from meeting him the other day. But, then again, we were just sitting in the waiting room!
